August 11
Cloudy and showery. We ironed. Ellen went over and stayed with Alice Karvin all day. John went up to call on Mr. Bliss and Mr. Humphrey. He had only first gone when Wm. and Ellen Spelman come so they staid and visited with me. I told Ellen more than I wish I had about my troubles and she told me what she had seen and also heard from her brother none of which cause me to feel any better. Helen has been here to see Paulina and Silas took them to ride this eve.
